Herman Duarte (ICAL 2011) selected on the Financial Times TOP 50 OUTstanding LGBT+ Future Leaders List


ICAL 2011 Alumnus and 2016 Outstanding Alumnus of the year Herman Duarte has been selected by the Financial Times to join the TOP 50 OUTstanding LGBT+ Future Leaders List 2017.

A Gala event in London on October 26th officially uncovered the 2017 top 50 OUTstanding LGBT+ Future Leaders lists, in which Herman ranks 18 (Future Leaders category).

Herman has distinguished himself in recent years in his struggle for equal LGBT treatment in Latin America.  Herman is notably on the organization committee of the first equal marriage congress of the Latin American region, which will take place on 8-11 November 2017.

In addition, Herman was elected as 2017 Outstanding ICAL Alumnus for his efforts to defend same sex couples' equal rights to marriage in El Salvador. He presented a constitutional challenge to local legislation that prohibits same sex couples to marry and in 2016 he founded, a non profit organization that aims at promoting equality and civil rights.
